Title: Converting from single wiper back to stock
Post by: frog on 13 April 2009, 20:44
My golf has a single wiper conversion that i dont like, cant get used to the wiper blade parked at the 12 o'clock position. How hard would it be to swap back to stock wipers?
I know i will need arms, blades, a wiper motor but looking at the car i will also need the black plastic strip that goes between the windscreen and the bonnet as this was chopped out for the single conversion.
Anything else i will need?
How long will it take and wheres the best place to get the parts?

I've been told they all sit at 12 o'clock, if i could change the parked position then i might keep but would prefer stock

to alter the park position the nut that holds the crank mech to the motor needs to be loosened and put in a different position, then the wiper arm put back in position as desired... its trial and error really..

but the motor is different for the single wiper, as it goes both left and right 90degrees? So i you lay it flat, it will try and wipe your bonnet? lol

Im not sure mate, but i thought that the single wiper was mounted at the center, and the motor changed so it goes 90 each way. Unlike a normal wiper.

So surely you need to refit the orignal motors?

Dont hold me too it, but i reckon its more than just undoing the nut and putting it back flat.

The wiper does go 90 deg each side and then parks in the middle, think i'm going to try and source a standard wiper and arms and return to stock.
Watch this space soon for a single conversion for sale
