Title: Catalytic converter

Afternoon,

Does anyone know/recomend a place to get a catalytic converter for my 96 8v gti.I live in Crawley. west sussex (2minsfrom Gatwick Airport)
Kwik Fit wanted £235 all in - but i dont want to be paying that.

Also will scrappies still buy your old cat from you for cash?

Do you know Retro VW at chorley?
Cant say he will have a cat but he is local and has all the bits and facilities, also breaks VWs and has helped me out a bit :wink:

No i have not heard of them. Is there anywhere that i can get a CAT from cheap (motor factors etc etc?)

I paid £200 for a SPORTS CAT. not a standard one mate.

Paid about £80 for mine from GSF. Fairly easy job to do yourself, just remember to undo the oxygen sensor (lambda) before undoing the bolts.

Well i bought one today from a site called buypartsby. I noticed that it had the exactly the same layout as cats-direct and a few others. Paid £86 including VAT and delivery and a gasket/fitting kit which i didnt think was to bad.

Matey who works at a local motor factors could not even get close to that price.

Not sure if i fancy fitting it myself - hopefuly i can get a local garage to do it fairly cheap.
