i do thin it out with kerosene or diesel and filter it... i bought the car to run it on veg oil after having run a mk3 on it for 6 months. now i have been hearing mixed reviews. some ppl say it should be fine and some say i should drain the tank!!!
if it is a problem... what problems should i expect??
smells great depending on where i get the oil... this week its prawn cracker flavour!!
costs about £2 per tank

May be the most gullable user but..........
Is this a joke?

Buy a crappy landrover tdi if you want to run a vechile on veg oil, not a mk4 golf :(

yes its the common rail diesels that tend to have little problems - the PD diesels don't really like it tbh :undecided:
i've never seen someone run theirs long term in all honesty :undecided:

my 150 loves bio diseal theres a pump round th e corner been using it for 22k miles now no problems just change the fuel filter every 6 months insteadm plus the mileage isnt as good as normal diesal anywaya am lff to get my jubilee clip omn ma cv boot and greSED UP $15 wilco motorsave

Not a case of filling the tank with Veg oil, it needs heating to be combustable, most vehicles i have seen on veg oil use diesel to start the car then switch to a seperate tank and feed system with pre heaters to get the oil upto temp, switch over to vegetable oil when at normal operating temperature, run all day, if you stop during the day for an hour or so you do not need to switch back to diesel because the engine will still be warm, at the end of the day switch back to diesel, run for a few minutes and switch off, this ensures engine can be started next morning on Diesel.
running cold veg oil through will make your golf last about 6 months if your not using the 2 tank method
Taken From Diesel Veg Website :
For Common Rail and VW Unit Injector(CDi and PD) 2 tank system price, fully fitted around £1350.00 inc VAT. Usually takes two days to fit. A DIY kit for most CDi and VW PD is available. Price around £730.00 for cars.

hi nadlad! this is interesting! so yours is a 150 pd... mine is a 115pd i believe... i am changing my fuel filter allot and making sure the fuel is thin enough for the diesel pump etc. u think i will be ok? these rhumors about injectors screwing up scare me!!

iv been reading alot about the veg oil in cars on the net u tube and t4 website so thought id give it a try ....
put 20 liters of new normal veg oil in my golff tdi yesterday and runs no prob there are loads of processes that people put it through like 2 tank and heating it .... but the best iv found and will be using next is 20 l veg oil to 5 l of petrol its thins it down and makes starting and cold weather no prob for what i can tell .. as well as being easy to do ... you mix it before you put it in the tank and away you go ..im prob going to look at fitting race injectors as bigger bor just to save probs and change filters 3 times a year ...you can not !!!!!!put used un filterd veg oil in your car you can buy filters off ebay for this cheep :)
and to the people that say just buy diesel ...1 diesel was invented to run on oil not diesel its just there was more diesel than peanut oil at the time and 2 if you spent 600_700 per month on fuel out your own money tou would be looking at anything to make a little saving ..
-
sorry prob more like 2.5l petrol to 20 l of oil

I've never liked diesels, but from this thread I just want to buy one just to run on chip oil haha.
can't you use methanol to thin it down, not sure on price of meth vs petrol.
The oil idea is not new but not seen it on a mk4, also what's the issue with injectors, I have a cheap but effective ultrasonic cleaner that everyone seems to now own on the Audi forums.

to be honest im no expert umm bigger injectors just means easyer flow as the oil is thicker . and mixing im not sure from wht i can see is the easyest was of doing it . what is this ultrasonic cleaner ??

Theres a few small ultrasonic tubs/baths on amazon, I use it for cleaning injectors.

Imagine whilst changing filter you may aswell clean injectors if the oil is harmful, just an idea...
