Title: Twin foglight how to
Post by: Wazzzer on 12 April 2009, 19:48
Right then ladies and gents, here's how to get the passenger side fog light working. If you're like me you'll find it annoying that the circuit is there but VW were too tight to run 1 wire across to make it work.

Anyways here we go

Order yourself one of 000 979 133 (repair wire)

If you have a mate who wants this done as well you can go halves on it as you get 2 ends on the wire.

First off solder a bit more wire onto the end of the connection to give you enough to get over to the other cluster

now clip the wire end into the plug on the back of the passenger side bulb holder

then get a piece of stiff wire, run it up from the boot floor then tape the repair wire to it and pull back down to route the wire behind the side panel

then run the wire behind the hard plastic cover at the back of the boot space so the end is at the drivers side boot panel

now run the stiff wire behind the panel. Be warned the terminals for the cigarette lighter are permanently live and touching them will blow the fuse (like I did) If you want to prevent this remove the 30amp fuse from the fuse box (I think it's 3rd one up in the middle row)

now pull the stiff wire through until the repair wire end has come through

then grab a scotch lock or your connection of choice and connect to the grey wire at the end of the plug

turn your fog lights on and check they both work

stand back and admire

No worries, glad I can be of service

Forgot to add you will need another bulb and US/Euro clusters will need the blank snapping out of the hole so the bulb fits
