Title: Warning light identification......

Hi all,

I have a warning light on the dash and wondered if anyone could identify it for me?

I dont have the owners manual so have no idea what this is??

It is a yellow exclamation mark in brackets with a vvvv sort of thing underneath, there is also a button with his on it near the gear stick and next to the ESP button.

Any ideas?

Its the Tyre Pressure Warning System - check your tyre pressure.

Mine pinged last night and at first glance I thought it was lying as they tyres looked OK.  After I checked the TP one was at 1.8 bar (the rest were OK at 2.4) and further inspection revealed there was a nail in the offending tyre  :angry:

The button is for resetting the system / calibrating it when you have the set the tyres to the correct pressure.

I was kindov impressed with the system - I thought it was just a bit of a gimmick!

Is this standard on all GTI's, or was it an option?
My tyres were running at 29psi up until a few days ago when I checked and put them back up to 37!!

It is a standard feature, but I believe that the warning light will only come on if there is a fairly quick drop in pressure, not a gradual loss.

So they should be at around 37 psi?

Once you've inflated them correctly, insert your key into the ignition and activate the electronics but don't start the car. Then press and hold the tyre pressure button for a good few seconds until you hear the bong. This means that they're now set and should warn you if there's a problem.

It tells you inside your fuel cap - I have the 18" Pescaras, which come out at 2.6bar, or just under 38psi.

Is the tyre pressure button the one next to the ESP button, labelled 'Set'?

I got my dealer to lend me a Handbook a couple of weeks before my car was delivered so i could read it. Aren't I a smart arse!
