Lets hope the new are built as well as the old then. Cant say that for some manufactures these days!

Being as the time quoted for the mk6 gti is the time it takes to get from 0 - 62mph(100km),and the time quoted for the other gti`s is 0-60(97km) does this mean the mk6 gti is the fastest ? :undecided:
-
Just for fun we put 2 completely standard 20 year old Golf GTI's on the dyno recently. The 16v pulled 140bhp and the 8v 115bhp. Try that in a 20 year old ford!
-
      mk6 only 1.1 seconds faster to 60 then a mk2 valver
-
Mk6 is measured 0-62 (100km) where as all the others are 0-60(97km),so while the rest are struggling upto 60mph the mk6 has gone past it all the way to 62 mph
-
20 years of technology, etc etc etc all for 1.1 seconds. oh and £20k +
-
According to your mrs alot can happen in 1.1 seconds
-

I'd also like to see the 60-0 times. I test drove a mk2 and the brakes were so bad the car was still going when I gave it back to the fella!!

Yes but its over 8 seconds quicker to 100
Its not like a 16V mk2 is any faster than the 1.8 mk1s if you use 0-60 as a gauge so were was the progress there  If thats all you use.

I must admit although i love speed, i like to feel safe when doing 'sed speed.. and the GTI is the only "Performance" car that i tested which gave me the feeling of security at high speeds...
-
 Well turns out I need new disc's, think I'll give that a miss! No more breaking for me! :undecided:
