Post by: dan_b998 on 10 April 2009, 16:24
hi i have a 1.6 gti engine with a weber single carb on it does anyone know if the gti engine were fitted with an oil cooler as standard

also does anyone know where i can get a fast road camshaft kit for it

and uprated ignition coil dissy plug leads etc

also wouldn't mind gettin hold of a full engine gasket set and samco silicone hoses for the whole engine

if anyone has any easy ways to tune the engine please let me know

cheers

yes it was, they had an air cooled oil rad mounted on the slam panel and a different oil filter housing with take offs for the oil lines.
not sure about cam, but dont bother with 'uprated' coil, cap leads etc just buy oem quailty bosch/beru items from gsf or avs, more than good enough. Gasket set again from gsf/avs, samcos ebay best bet

i want to go for the uprated coil etc because i was goin to port and polish the head and skim it and hopefully get hold of a weber side draught twin carbs and lighten and balance the crank rods and pistons and put a better cam and valve springs and try and squeeze as much power out of the engine i can without goin down the turbo or supercharger route

if anyone knows where i can get as much tuning parts fr the engine as possible and obviously uprated suspension and brakes but i know where i can get most of the brakes an suspension parts from just need some decent antiroll bars im also goin to get ligthweight panels

also does gsf and avs have websites i can look on

cheers

even so, standard ign parts will be fine. spark, is a spark, is a spark! important thing is it happens at the right time ;)
