Just been looking at this, but im a bit confused. Did mk2s really come with a 2ltr? 190? to me its looks like a std mk2 valver, i mean if you did have somthing as special as it says would you honeslty advertise it on ebay? and not show the engine? paperwork?

opinions?

I think its a load of rubbish - I've never heard of a "standard" UK Mk2 with 2.0L - I think some the later US Mk2's might have a 2.0L engine though.

I've seen some Mk2's that have had a fettled GTI Engineering (a private aftermarket company) engine fitted soon after purchase, so maybe its had that (I doubt it).

I also like how theres a random pic of two spare doors, with no explanation. Presumably the existing doors are rotten.

ha!

Yea such a 'RARE' car that needs new doors...very well looked after then!!

Just annoyin how people can put all this bullsh1t in an add and people will actuay pay over the odds for which is just a std 16v.

The vehicle details for H101 RET are:
Date of Liability01 07 2009
Date of First Registration01 05 1991
Year of Manufacture1991
Cylinder Capacity (cc)1994CC
CO2 EmissionsNot Available
Fuel TypePetrol
Vehicle StatusSORN Not Due
Vehicle ColourBLACK

Well it's registered with a 1994CC engine, but that could have been done later.
Confused with the SORN not due, so does that mean it's currently SORN? He doesn't mention and MOT/TAX.

I would think that someone has fitted a 2.0 later.

The GTI Engineering steering wheel gives you the hint that it might not be factory spec.

If it were VAG 2.0 then it would be 1984cc, surely anyhoo.

Headlamp washers 'n' everything, although probably a *little* bit poxy, if it needs new doors...

He does say no MOT and tax in an additional bit now lol, so yea I'm assuming it is currently SORN

I think this car is the real deal, GTI Engineering did do some pre registered conversions, and I'm fairly sure in saying that these engines were covered by the VW warranty they were that good, if it is a GTI Engineering car, then I would be very interested in finding out more about it, serious brownie points! http://forum.performancevwmag.com/viewtopic.php?t=45195&sid=9d2648be017fb30a2cc409d6389ef14a

I emailed the guy soon after he had the add up

I asked him if it had the 'gti engineering' plaque on the slam pannel. I also told him its not factory then is it!

His reply..

''yes it has pal but it was done by gilders motorsport they were the only company that got 190bhp out of a 2L and only ever did 7 of them''

Ok so if it is true...Wouldnt you want to take a money shot pic of the engine? This is what I dont get so bullsh1t comes to mind.

if they were on a power quest and only got 190 bhp  gliders motorsport arn't very good.    really it's nothign spectial at all,   a 16v with a 2.0 conversion  may have had some headwork done  ( or some added bullsh!t ) and some posh bit's of trim but if the doors have gone the rest is gonna be poor

Thats a very very dodgy ebay listing

firstly if you were selling your pride and joy especially something so 'rare' you'd use more than 3/4 lines.

Then non matching number plates, failing to mention lack of MOT etc looks like a hammered chav mobile

Pity really

I have spoken to the guy via email, believe me when I tell you that he's not the sharpest tool in the box! but that aside, I do think that that car is a bit of a rarity.. black paint, Speedline wheels?? if not, they do look of the era, headlamp washers, and the GTI Engineering steering wheel, plus, what he says IS under the bonnet... who knows :undecided: :undecided:
We could do with someone. that lives in that neck of the woods, to go and give it a quick reccy

H101 RET on vw dialog database is listed as a KR. H263 RVV is not on the system at all
