any one know if the corrado slam panel headlights and grille will fit a 1990 golf
-
corrado headlights in a mk2 have been done before, iirc it involves using a jetta slam panel, corrado headlights and rallye grill and a bit of chopping etc
Jolfa on clubgti has done it
-
waiting for the corrado slam penel and lights to arrive, thats this weekend taken up, hope its not too taxing i am planning on having major hangover on satday
-
id like to see how this turns out.... when you do it make sure you do a how to please cos i was thinking about the same thing
-
i wll git pics of all the butchery
-
i've seen some photos of a mk2 with corrado front end and it looks well good i mean brillaint i wish i had the money to do it , everywhere i look they quote £150 for everything i need , but i just cant warrant that on the look i'll save up and get it on my mk2 one day ,

i picked the slam panel and headlights up for £50 £30 for the rallye grill so not too bad
-
do not try this with a corrado slam panel, it will fit but shape is wrong and also the bonnet catch is in the wrong place,
jetta slam panel next
-
well the old thing as gone from this

maybe back to this

i bought a corrado slam panel to start with but that was the wrong shape and not being able to weld that went on the scrap pile, next i bought a jetta slam panel which was a total wast of money, by the time i had cut out the bits i needed to it looked like a golf slam panel, so that was £70 well spent, basicly all you need is a pair of corrado headlights and the willingness to chop up a rallye grille.
i have got a couple of things to finnish ie, deep grille spoiler to get rid of the gap and a bit of paint on the bottom of the grille then may change it back to 4 lamp not sure i like it
oppinions and ideas welcome
-
Prefer the original tbh but try it with a spoiler and see how it goes
-
Sorry fella, I know I sold you the grill, but that looks wrong. Might be the colours though??????
-
will waste a bit more money on a grill spoiler then bin the whole lot and go back to original
-
i like it, but you car doesnt have enough low / poke to pull it off imo.
-
Thay early or late Corrado headlights? Late ones are a bit bigger round the edges so would fill it out a bit more.
Nick
-
was told they were late ones, not to worry i think they will be on ebay next week, depending on what it loks like with the grill spoiler
-
I think it looks better than the jetta set up but not as good as the rallye set up. Give it a few tweaks, some paint and a badgless grill and I reckon it'll look good.

might not pass mot with all the tie-raps holding it all together
-
2 be honest it looks a bit bog eyed, if i were you id stik it back normal, or go single headlights,
-
anyone remember the blue westside mk2 with corrado front, that looked sweet!
to pull it off you need g60 arches and very wide wheels though imo. i think yours need a bit of moving around to make the gaps around the lights more constant, but the potential is there
-
Don't think it looks to bad. With the grill spoiler fitted and the black trim kiwi'ed it'll look 10x better. Could also do with fog lights in the bumper to balance it up. Makes a change to see someone trying somthing different. Nice work.
-
Looks gash IMO.
After careful consideration and running one for a bit de-badge grilles also look gash. Single light, late OEM grille FTW.
-
get it painted and soldier on! but as chris said, need other mods to compliment it, imagine it sitting a cm off the floor and it would look bad ass! if you decide you dont want it and fancy selling up, pm me! until then stop dilly dallying and get the rattle cans out!

Looks hideous to me! the top of headlamps need to be no more than 20mm off the edge of the bonnet, that would then leave larger gaps from the top of the bumper, to the bottom of the headlamps! so unless you could lift the bumper to fill the gaps, then it will always look out of proportion...
just my opinion

Oops! :lipsrsealed:
-
you would be better off with a jetta front end to be honest will look loads better
-
a bit of paint on the lower grille, waiting for the grlle spoiler to get rid of the top gap

Now it's starting to look pretty damn good.

-
its finnished and i hate it, egay could be beconing

the bumper may not look right, thas because its balancing there, i reversed down the curb and completely ripped it off the car, broke every clip on the bumper so thats now for the bin, unless i can find a way of fixing it back onto the metal bracket

looks a lot better than what it did to start with
You could always take it slightly further and split the headlights and paint part of the insides black or maybe look into lamin-x
-
I'm quite liking that mate, looks...sleepy, tho lol
-
I think it looks pretty good actually.
nick
-
Looking good . Still think the fog lights and smoked indicators would improve things. :nerd:
-
I think you should get rid of the eyebrow spoiler tho IMO
-
if i get rid of the eyebrow i end up with a nasty looking gap between the bonnet and lights, the indecaters and fogs will be getting done, just not yet been made redundant so money is a tad tight
