So I'm having a ciggie out the back of the office and there's a fella from the company next door getting some stuff out of the boot of his 58 plate M5 (which looks factory fresh, not a mark or spec of dirt on it. He wanders over and asks me where my COrrado is today and I tell him it's parked round the other side of the office today. Turns out he's had a few storms and a couple of G60's and said he admires mine whenever he sees it. I was so chuffed as this was coming from a man who's garage consists of:
* Yellow E36 M3 EVO (200K miles and just rebuilt by local BMW specialist including bare shell respray that he's had since new).
* Silver Audi S3
* Blue M5 mentioned above
* Oak Green GTI Engineering 2.0 16v MKII
* Escort Cosworth
* Capri MKIII Brooklands
* 09 Plate silver Audi R8
* Aston Martin DB9
All of the above always look like they have been freshly detailed when he parks them at work no matter what the weather. Normally I find people with flash motors a bit up themselves but this guy is a proper petrol head having started tinkering with £100 bangers in his teens. If anyone is interested he's thinking of selling the R8 as he doesn't like all the attention that comes with it.

What a collection, that is someone into cars without wearing blinkers! :)

Exactly, he appriciates them for what they are not as a status symbol of wealth. It's why he's thinking of moving the R8 on as it's just too "Look at me I'm minted". I guess the Aston while just as nice (if not more so) attracts a different kind of admiration.

And very deep pockets!
Envious? Yes of course! But full marks to the guy, like his taste.

Strange to have an R8 AND an Aston. I'm sure they are [a bit] different on the road, blah blah, but come on, there more or less the same in function: Fast luxury exotic.
Sounds like a guy who buys cars with his heart, not his head. (Which isn't a criticism!)

mmm cosseh :cool: :cool:

He buys an R8 and gets it in SILVER??? Bold primary colours work so much better with that beauty. But then again, if he got it early, might have been the only one available... :lipsrsealed:

Totally, totally agree. Red = win. Silver = big TT
(Not that I'll ever have to make that choice personally!!)
