What generally causes wheel bearings to go?
I know ive got massive spacers on my wheels which will put more strain on them and therefore cause them to start making noises sooner, but on say a normal car, just lowered, what causes them to wear?
Would bumps and such make them go? or is it purely wear and tear?
Got a front bearing on mine starting to make noise and Im just wondering if its because of the roads ive been driving on (GF lives down a country lane :/) or if its just the wear and tear + wheel spacers im running.

lots of reasons...bad roads,cheap bearings,wider wheels,lowering,spacers etc etc... if its a quality bearing and done within the last 2 years I would check the hub too (as mine had issues and ate bearings!)

Cheers mate, not sure when it was done, I had to get a rear done when I got the car but the front hasnt been an issue.
Where can I get a decent quality bearing from? :)

No definite answer really Dec.
Have heard of brand new cars have bearings go after 2 years! And others go on for 20 years!
Can be faulty or cheap materials sometimes.
But all you describe wont help prolong the life of a wheel bearing! :grin:

as len's said....but make sure you buy the better quality one's made in germany (as euro sell some questionable parts for cheapness!!...and they can be a pig to fit!)

Cheers guys :) Im looking to change my wheels at some point (holiday to pay for atm) so that can't be sorted but i'll just tell my garage I use to get the good ones, theyre pretty good and it normally works out less for them to get and fit the parts and it would for me to buy them retail :shocked:

Oh yea sorry Euro do offer cheap options on a lot of parts! I always opt for the german ones.
