Afternoon,
I have a mk3 gti 8v on a P reg. Getting the car into 1st, 2nd and 3rd can sometimes be stiff. So I have changed the gearbox oil with VW g/box oil, replaced the long thin metal rod with the 2 plastic black caps at the end and also the white small pastic one. I bought a metal gearstick allignment tool of ebay and done the gearstick allign ment but still no change.
HELP!! What else can i do??

grab gearstick and lift upwards, if there is movement then you need to change the gearstick housing under the car. i think its the same procedure as on a MK2 but not 100% sure. there is a linkage guide in the mk2 section, the bay linkages are pretty much the same. worth having a look at your relay shaft for one thing
