Title: Oil leaking from the spark plug?
Post by: xAx on 07 April 2009, 13:00
Right ive had a quick search and couldnt see anything similar

My mk2 8v digifant seems to have what i presume to be oil coming up through the spark plug hole. Its only wet around the second from left one and I cant see that the oil would be coming from anywhere else. looks dry all the way up to the rocker cover, just wet in the recess where the plug goes.

So, is it possible that something could be working its way out up the thread or am I just mental?

more likely to be from rocker gasket, if actual plug was leaking oil you would need to worry!

I will double check the rocker gasket. It doesnt seem to be loosing oil either really, or missing.

+1. Degrease your head properly and clean it up, drive the car about a bit, then check again.

If there were that much oil that it was seeping out the spark hole - I would imagine that cyl wouldn't be firing at all.
