Title: modified car insurance
Post by: r4vvm on 06 April 2009, 18:41
hi guys, im currently 20years old, looking to insure a mk5 golf 1.9tdi, having trouble finding insurance as most companies only alow modification if you are over 25.

Anyone know any companies that will alow mods for me?

Recommend Brentacre too!

Gave me a good quote on my 8v up to 120hp limit allowing any modifications as long as the car stays below that power, as Chris said.

And it only costs 90 quid more to boost it up to 150hp limit

Using Adrian Flux (Highway) at the mo and can't falt them. Best thing to do is buy a car mag and ring a few of the insurance company in the ads. It's a ball ache but could save you a pile of cash that you can then use for more mods!

I've been with Bell with mods declared the past 2 years.

When I called Flux the first time, I was 20 - and the guy goes "You must be kidding, a 20 year old on a GTi no-one would insure you"

That was the last time I called flux.

Thats suprising I've used them on and off for the last 15 years and always found them to be very helpful. Sounds like you were un lucky with who you spoke to.

Only reason I called them was because my mate, same age, was insured on a Polo G40 no bother.

I've always meant to re-quote with them, but haven't bothered, I doubt they could touch my price from Bell anyway.
