Title: quick steering spindle/UJ question

do mk3 power steering spindles ( the uj coupling between coloum and rack ) fit and replace mk2 item? my mk2 one is badly foooked and i need one asap. sending a mate down to VW tomorrow but its not going to be cheap i dont think. a few mk3 ones on ebay.

Im 90% sure they dont. iirc the mounting on the mk3 item is completely different.

will fit column end, but not rack end
edit: if your MK2 is PAS early corrado one will fit, SEAT ibiza/toledo from early 90s. If manual then its gotta be a manual MK2 one.

mine is a 90 mk2 with power steering, and i am abit stuck for one if you can dig it out oakgreen. just fitted a recon power steering rack so i dont fancy changing that for a mk3 one or a manual one to be honest.

its up on axle stands witout any steering at the moment  :cry:

the uj's are solid, but the splines are flatend the car had been run for a fair while before i owned it and a short while after i owned it without any power steering fluid making the steering really heavy. im wondering if the extra pressure on the splines have caused them to round off
