when i reach approx. 3000rpm in 3rd, 4th and 5th gear, the car kind of judders (like a kangaroo in the car), until about 3500rpm.
the car idles fine and it doesnt do anything strange in the other gears or the affected gears at other rpm's.
could it be the fuel filter that needs replacing? something tells me that is the problem!?
thanks
Jon

need to get it on vag-com really, but worth doing free things like clean throttle body, check vac-hosuing, remove inlet boot and check in all the folds etc. could be fuel pump or ecu relay
-
i'd say those relays too!
-
Them bloody relays hit again!

Defo Worth Changing Them Relays!! Common Fault On Mk3s . . You Can Get Them From The Main Dealers For Like £10each
Relay 15 Engine Control Unit
Relay 24 Fuel Pump[Petrol] Glow Plug[Diesel]

it seems to be the air flow meter.
-
The numbers on the relays themselves are -
ECU = 30
Fuel = 167
These are what you need to buy from dealer. And its best to get them form a main dealer as they are not expensive!

it seems to be the air flow meter.
vag-com would give you a code......but also try and disconnect the meter and if it runs better then thats another tell tale sign thats at fault
-
a mate of mine unplugged the air flow meter plug, the car was like a rocket!!!!
-
well its a new air mass/flow meter you need. these have a stepper motor inside which can become clogged up with crap and unless your very good with cleaning delecate electrics a new one is needed (plus your car will over fuel until this is sorted and could damage the cat!.. even though it's fast the damamge could be costly!)

I had the similar issue and a few weeks later my gearbox had packed up. The diff ended up breaking its bolts. :undecided:
