Title: Laquer or not with solid paint?
Post by: GOLF_MK on 05 April 2009, 15:51
This weekend i've rubbed down and sprayed the bottom (metal) bar of the front grill on my mk3 as it was very chipped and had paint fade.

I've given it three coats of primer and now four top coats (flash red).

Should i now laquer it?  I haven't purchased any as i always thought laquer was more for metallic finishes and mine it a 'solid' colour.

??

I guess it might help preserve the paint a bit more but i don't want to bugger up my so far good work!!

It depends on whether you bought Top coat, or base coat! If you bought the flash red as a basecoat, then you must lacquer it!
to lacquer topcoat is pointless, and a waste of money...
