Title: mk1 clipper caby clutch

right here goes just got my mk1 cabby 1990 yesterday and clutch was on last legs so put new clutch today but not gone well ive put it back together and you can change gear as normal whilst engine running with out touching clutch as cable wasnt conected
so itook gearbox back off checked everything put it back together and still same problem any ideas wot it could be any help would be appreciated thx

did you check the friction plate was a snug fit on the gearbox splines?  is the cable too tight?

yes every thing was correct i took it of and double checked cable is very slack
but also have a lot of travel on clutch lever on gear box its doing my head in

Long shot but is the small plate fitted that the rod pushes against.

I had a similar issue caused by the pushrod being too short, you coudl see both ends had mushroomed out. I took the end green plate off and found several washers bodged under the release arm which explained how it happened.

yes the plate is fitted which it pushes against i think ill try and get a new push rod release bearing and see how we go thx for replys

one of the links above has measurements for the pushrod so worth whippin it out and checking, also make sure its not bent :)
oh and if it wont come out thats a giveaway that the end is mushroomed :(
