Hi
Having just purchased my golf I am keen to install my sub and amp and a new headunit of course as already missing having it, even though only been a couple of weeks lol!!
I was just wondering if anyone can advise me on the best place to route the cables? Obviously I need to get through the bulk head and into the engine bay with the power cable but is there a good path to take? Also is there a good place to run the cables from the head unit to the boot? Obviously I just want it all in nice and neatly and discretely!
If anyone can advise I would be very grateful, also if any one has any pictures too then even better!! The other thing I wondered was do people frill through the battery cover to get to the positive terminal?
Sorry for all the questions but as said would really appreciate any help!
Thanks in advance

to get the power cable into the car you need to do several things
1 remove the scuttle panel plastic on the passenger side of the windscreen
2 remove the pollen filter cover underneath the scuttle panel
3 remove the centre console
4 remove the glove box
when the glove box has been removed pull the white foam material upwards and look up to the top of the bulkhead and you will see a grommet this is where you need to run your power cable through
the power cable will also nee to be routed through the bent plastic trim leading to the battery(the cover unclips from this)
you will not need to drill the battery cover
run all the rca's and remote cable down the drivers side
i will post some pics tomorrow

I too was told to keep power and RCA cables away from each other, interferance or something. But, when it came to doing it, i just ran all the cables together as its so much easier. I ran them down the passanger side, under the carpet, in the sill and up the dash for RCA and remote cable and then through bulkhead for +ve cable.

what Mk of golf ?
but yeah, wot the rest said, i run all my cables down one side together ( power, sub feed etc etc )
Earth lead is as SHORT as posbile from the amp to an existing Earth point in the boot

cant help with getting thru the firewall, but there might be a rubber gromet spare, and i run everything down the PASSENGER side, lessuse than the drivers in my car as the wires run under the kick trim panels

there is a grommet that you feed through just to the left of the passenger wing...you need to remove the pollen filter to get to it tho...that feeds nicely down to the passenger footwell...you might need to remove some of the foam protection from its clips in the footwell to get your hands to the carpet...
