Title: 25% off your insurrance!
Post by: Dizzie on 23 July 2004, 03:16
max power are starting a driving scheme called max driver. it costs ?99 for the basic test and for that you'll get a couple of hours a fortnight and after 3 months take a test. The lessons teach you how to overtake properly (wait for the boost to rise and hold on for that) and other methods to make you drive safer on the roads.

once you've passed if you go with Adrian Flux insurrance you'll get 25% off!

How for me being 22 with only a year's NCB and the 20v under the bonnet I'm paying a bollock twisting ?1244 comp. That's a saving of ?311 just for taking a ?99 test. Sounds a good idea to me.

Obviously there are a few varibles in there, but for reduced insurrance I'm sure I won't be the only one taking this test. There's also a fast track course for ?199 where you can do the whole thing a lot faster than 3 months.

I've probably got some of the info above slightly wrong as I haven't looked at the site for a couple of days so visit www.max-driver.com for all the info!

I pay about 25% less than what adrian flux quoted me anyway, sounds an excellent idea for people with low/no NCB though !

the '25% off' is no way as simple as that. it will just be used as one extra variable in working out your premium. if adrian flux are the only people to support it, they know they have got you as a customer. not too convinced myself

Whether you get a full 25% off or not it seems like a cheap way of improving your driving.  It seems to be approved by the advanced motoring people.  I'm sure you'd save ?99 in insurance discounts over a couple of years with it.

I'm going to get a quote for my renewable from adrian flux before I take this test. no point in doing it if I won't be saving much money. I'm hoping with another years NCB it will drop a bit.

I'm always very sceptical about these "saver" schemes. The premiums are usually very high to start with. I have always found the cheapest insurance is with companies who dont offer any of these. I will normally gewt upto a dozen quotes for my renewal, then get the best 2 or 3 to compete against eahc other for my business. I always and up saving at least a third of my renewal figure by doing this.
I started with figures of over a ?1000 for my cab, then got a couple at ?300 and managed to get one of them down to ?250. Not bad for an hours work on the phone and internet.

Norwich Union was cheap for me ?800ish where AF quote me at ?1200 and i laughed over the phone when i heard that quote.

Thats a 400 difference. So i dont think its gona help, only if it was for all companies then i would do it, But i already know how to ocertake proper.  ;D

I know I always say this, but haggling is definately the best way to get cheap insurance.

Adrian flux quoted me over a grand, but I'm paying just under ?600, with Admiral! ( I'm 24, 3yrs ncb, got 1.8 20v NA Mk4 GTI, lowered with non-standard alloys).

25% off on a standard stock car more like and thats if your lucky, i did an advanced driving course and it makes fuss all difference. the difference covered the cost of paying for the course if that.

?400 fully comp on a gti cab through a teaching insurance, half the companies wouldn't insure me and one quote was ?1200

hell insurance companies are like car dealers they want a sale and business you just have to play em off against each other.
