new to forum can anyone give me sum advice.Just got golf gti 05 so 4 years old but only done 24,000 miles . Am i right in thinking cam belt needs changing.
-
Apparantly so...
The book says 120k miles but aparantly vw advise 4 years too
-
vw advise cambelts on all vw (except passats) be changed at 4 years OR 60 000 miles, whichever comes first..
(passats are 4 years o 80 000 miles)

Is it not inspect after 60k (and replace if necessary), replace after 120k? Thats what it says in my service book for the 147kw TFSI engine.....
-
Yup, in the service book it says to inspect after 60k miles......
-
i can only say what ive been taught.
you cant inspect a cambelt anyways.. thats why theres a time and mile limit on it, as you just dont know when it could snap.
but again, i can only comment on what i know and have been taught.

On my A3 2.0 TFSI the interval is 75k/4 years.
I find it strange that Audi would would recommend a different mileage to VW's 60k on what is exactly the same engine.

Hi,
i chaecked with VW head office on this (listed in another thread somewhere) they confirmed its 120k or 4 years,
It was updated (presumably following some faliures),
Cheers,

its whichever comes first.. the mileage of the year..
-
Is a cambelt change fo rthe GTI the same cost as across the golf range? Or is it more expensive with the GTI?
-
it would be more expensive..
quotes for anything are for a specific model or reg of model/vehicle..
id be able to get you a quote, but it would be just that, as our labou time is different, so youd just have to take into account that its generaly a minimum of 3 hrs labour..

thx all for your input .
