Title: Scirocco Wheels
Post by: rskardon on 01 April 2009, 16:59
Hi Guys,

Are Scirocco wheels a straight swap and given i have 17 inch wheels would 18's affect the speedo etc or is the rolling surface with the reduced depth of tyres about the same?

Thanks,

R

As long as you go from 225/45R17 to 225/40R18 tyres your speedo will be fine. As for the wheels they should be a straight swap

They are advertised as:

8J x 18" rims with 5x112 stud pattern and 235 40 ZR 18 tyres

My current wheels are 225 45 17",

Does the extra 10mm width make any difference?

Thanks,

R

My understanding is that the offset on the Scirocco OEM wheels are different too. 42 or 43

This would mean that the wheels would be poking out approx 14mm further out over VW Golf OEM wheels.

Mine are 8" and 48 offset using 235 tyres and are fine, so the Scirocco alloys should be okay with 225 tyres
