The wheel caps were pissing me off with the water damage. So I took a trip to the local VW garage and took a long shot at trying to get some ordered.
We couldn't find the long beach alloys on the ETKA, he took my VIN number and it came up with a part number for alloys that looked nothing like the LB alloys. Went in on Friday to be told the ones we ordered were not being manufactured but the sales guy had a "hunch" that these would fit.....they did! cheaper too and look the same.

Yesterday was not a good day for me.
1 -The new ARB link came off. Don't know where and I cant feel a difference. It has baffled me as the nipple is still on there, manufacturing fault I think as it was put ion tight and properly.
2-I had a slight problem with the coilovers, I had put them on incorrectly.
Had mine like this-
(http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c400/rstommyk67/090410_181757.jpg)
Supposed to go on like this-
(http://i125.photobucket.com/albums/p51/jmfangio5/2.jpg)
Sorted that and then another problem.......Too much camber! Just eaten my poor Toyos, Nice new grove in the side!
It is lower now! But no ARB link until wed!
-
Rite ARB on now, handles abit better with that connected. The ARB link dropping off ripped my CV boot....gets better.

Painted Calipers
I spent at least 3 hours making sure the calipers were clean before I put the first lick of paint on. Once they were clean I started to paint. It took at least 3 coats to make sure they looked right and took me from Friday - Monday. And the finished results are suburb.
Sorry it was a quick picture, didn't come out too well -

Right not done much for a while, got the Hellas and realised how bad the visibility is.
I invested in a set of decent HIDs after reading some stories about cheapo sets.

Happy with that, they are very bright when you look into the beam. Thanks to VR6-Joe for the information and for Patryk for the HID kit.
EDIT: Bit of a problem. When I put my sides lights on one of the HIDs pop on. Bought a relay to sort this out Sorted with the relay kit, it also makes it simple to add the remote turn on to wire in (Might do a light sensor jobbie?)

On sunday me and a mate will be fitting some nice shiney stuff, Jetex SS cat back exhaust system-
(http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e46/Adam135/iPhoneUpload.jpg?t=1246656089)
-
I sure do like my shiney bits, got set to work after fueling up on Maccy Ds at 11am. Finished at 2, took time to make sure I didn't have any blowing.......And wow, what a noise it now makes. It is the two box system, so I thought it would drone like mad doing motorway speeds but no! They have a nice note and a good POP after.
Concidering the Borstel middle box and backbox were only a year old baffles were falling out everywere.
Me thinks Jetex need to give their staff counceling

Could have a chance at buying her back :)
Back to business. The car needs a bit of work done to it. This is going to be my winter project. The first thing to do is strip the interior and sell the leathers. In need of some 3door standard seats and door cards to replace the current leathers.
Gearbox has lost reverse. So instead of replacing it with a standard rod shift 020 box I have bought a 02A hydro clutch and cable gear change box. A bit of work getting it to fit but we should be alright.

Gearbox-
Since I have lost reverse on the old 020 box Im always one to upgrade rather than replace with an item that has a known fault. Mission for the weekend is to convert the old 020 cable clutch/rod gearbox for a hydraulic clutch/cable gearbox.
I would like to express my opinion on the apparent VR6 clutch upgrade over the 16V clutch. I had them side by side with the parts guy and myself trying to spot differences between them. The only slight thing we saw was the pressure plate had two small extra rivits....Not sure this is worth the extra £21 over the standard item but hey hooo..I stuck with the standard 16v item.

Keep posted for the result :afro:

Gearbox fitting went rather well :) Thought it may be a ball but Brad/Kells/F17BAD and DH helped me with some information.
Out with the old

How the old 8v clutch was still coping was amazing! Didn't have much life left in it! Strange release method on the 020 boxes. Goes through the gearbox and out the center of the input shaft
