whats that on his bonnet and why do people have them!? (didnt know how to insert pic on here, sorry for the primitive form of trying to show you something! youl have to copy the link into internet explorer!)
-
its called a tit oopppps i mean bra there help stop stone chips also helps if you have stone chips and covers them nicely
-
Not sure I like them and can cause paint / rust issues if left on too long.
-
Not a fan myself, makes the car look gay. I know why people use them though so fair enough, just feel it takes the edge away from the front of the car.
-
there fairly big in the air cooled and camper scene. i like them it breaks up the boring bonnet
-
think ill stick the turtle wa to sort out any chips then  dont know why but thought it was somethign to do with the engine!

You should see the state of mine, I'm just gonna replace the bonnet lol! Be much easier for me.

i got one, and its

is saving my paintwork from mega chips,
it is removed monthly, dried and treated and the bonnet given a quick polish
-
To be fair to chuff, his don't look bad on his MK2, it matches the rest of the car perfectly, but the MK3 it just doesn't work...in my opinion of course :)
-
I dont really see the point in them! Why not cover the rest of the car aswel incase a stray stone should dare hit the precious paint work on
bare metal of your car!
-
Technically, the paintwork isn't bare metal :lipsrsealed:
-
They look awesome on campers.

That gives it a different look front end though! Probly worth having for that!
-
You can get clear ones, like sticky backed plastic!
But I just got a respray!
-
I used to have one on my car, used it in the week as I did a lot miles going to work & took it off to dry at the weekend, never had any rust issues.... on the bonnet anyway!

Waaaay more stylish than the boring black ones!

each to there own, my car was recently resprayed when i bought it, so it IS protecting the paint .
-
Nah i totally see where your coming from in having them on your car.
Personally i wouldnt have them, Its like those people that leave that clear plastic sheet over the screen of there new phone, so it doesnt scratch!
-
I like these.......and might fit one at some point!!
-
I bought one for my most recent car and did so purely for aesthetic reasons. They are not to everyone's taste but I like them.
Obviously they do have a function as opposed to what they look like but I wasn't really to bothered by that.

what mug needs kerb feelers on the right hand side?
-
they seem pointless cos there not protecting the whole front end i.e.the bupers and grille etc so your gonna have to pay money to get them sorted anyways (if your fussy!!) its not like stones are that bad anyway! i think theres bigger things to worry about!!!

Not that you'd no anything about air cooled, (or vw's period) but they're fitted on both sides, and are more of an accessory than anything else, I don't make a habit of hitting the kerb!

that's a ghey reason i'd say.
-
You would know all about gay reasons wouldnt you...bender
-
i quite like these... on some cars, im 50/50 on the Mk3 its something i would put on mine because i have a huge dent and rust stone chips on my bonnnet (it was off a diffrent car) so i suppose if you like them as well it kills two birds with two stones, doubt i would ever get one though. That camper kinda looks like its driven through a picknick at high speed
-
Is there any point to those ridges on the top edge? One the Mk2 and Mk3 ones rather that the bug ones?!

Apparently it's cool
I think they are deflectors to prevent any stone flying at speed towards the windscreen, but to give it a decent look they don't cover the whole front of the bra, just the centre. Could be wrong though.
-
Completely useless IMO, what about stones hitting your grille, bumper, fogs, and headlights hey?

Isn't it aerodynamics, keeps the cover pressed down on the bonnet to stop it flapping up & down at speed?!
