Title: thinking off buying a corrado
Post by: tyler on 30 March 2009, 23:33
i have been thinking of buying a corrado now for around a year but dont really want to part with my mk3 but recently been offered a very tidy one for little money but its only a 16v model  i was wondering if the shocks ect are transferable from my mk3? is the 16v one any good im not after great speed but a reliable car which looks ok.

also my mk3 although theres no rust its not the tidest in the world but does have a few trick bits on it such as recaro seats and hella lights would you removeand sell seperatly or on the car i reckon i will only get 500 for it with them on or 350 with them off but it means purchasing a cheap set of seats.

I believe your shocks will change over however you need to change the top mounts.

Everyone bashes the valvers but they're really not as bad as the G60 and VR6 boys make out. On a recent trackday where a load of the Rado forum boys went for a play the 16vs upset a few of the VR's becuase they're better balanced for the twisty stuff whereas the VR comes into it's own on long straights. The G60 is probably the better car in standard trim as it has the balance of the 4 pot but near enough the power of the VR.

Don't forget that if you ever DO want speed then you can always slap a turbo onto the 16v

Go check out the corrado forum. Pretty sure there's a couple of 16v Turbos on there not to mention a few S/C VR6s. It's not the liveliest of forums but they know everything you ever need to know about the best coupe VW ever built.

Maybe slightly but most motoring hacks agree it's still one of the best handling FWD drive cars out there, even in todays market.

went too look at it today and it was not too good been bodged and few rough paint runs but it was cheap until the person started to insult my car saying it was not a real vw. for god sake he had a sell until that moment. it really winds me up when people take the piss ive been in scene for many years and know that true vw owners love there cars. some people really need some manners

im getting more and more temped by a 'rado after uni.. what're the MPG figures of all the models? I remember someone posted up a table with all of them :)

I rather fancy a VR6, figure I may as well get the full whack first time! Insurance at 21 is only about 750 too..

hmmmm i was thinkin of  a rado after uni too but f**ck the £750 for insurance i was quoted over a grand on all major insrance companies (using compare.com, compare the market etc......) so id like to know what insurers would do it for £750!!!

plus if anyone needs a vw turbo i got one kicking about you could have for a couple of pennies or a beer!

and that gy was a cock "your not a real vw owner" your not the one with paint runs down the side of your car! if he loved her that much he would have got her done properly!

I'm thinking of getting rid of my scoobie for a corrado, thinking maybe a G60 plus a Mk2 project.
Wanted one for years, is there anything to lookout for when buying apart from the usual.

I was thinking of buying a rado too as they hold their value so well!
Look at this one! http://www.dubscene.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=2591 (http://www.dubscene.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=2591)

I doubt I would even have enough money if I sold my mk 3!
