Title: Can you add additional drivers if they live at a different address?
Post by: Shady Pioneer on 30 March 2009, 17:48
As per title. Or is that not allowed? I'm just asking because I intend on moving out in March next year with a mate and don't know what to do about cars atm.

Oh sweet! Because my parents being on the policy helps hugely, saving me in the region of £300 - 400 a time. :) Cheers chuff.

Are you a named driver or is it your policy just wondering why did adding your parents knock off so much, dad is on my policy and they (AA) never knocked anything off.

Policy holder dude, I've no idea why it knocked so much off but I'm not complaining :)

:) Not alone then. wayned, guess it's just based on circumstances, the thing with my parents is my Dad has his own company car, and my Mum has her own car to which I declared to Admiral, and they brought it down but £400. On some quotes I've been getting for a potential future car adding them has helped me get the quote down by £450 :)

No worries, just wondered, I cannot complain too much £217 fully comp with the AA this year for the Bmw against £535 on the Golf last year with Adrian Flux.

i am on my daughters policy, reduced it by £300,

think its an incentive for kids to take there own policys out rather than getting there folks to front it

I am also named on a mates bike policy for the same reason

I would note though Shady that when the person you have named on your policy goes for their insurance, they will have to declare they are on your policy and it could actually raise their premium :undecided:
Hence I always pay for protected ncb for the other person

Cheers for the hint Dinx, but tbf, don't think my parents will notice much on the insurance rise, my Dad doesn't pay insurance as he's on a company car and my Mum has like 14 years no claims..she pays nothing for her insurance lol!

Much like my dad, 48 yrs without a claim and pays £84.50 a year fully comp on his Peugeot 207 with Swinton, they did tell him that is the least they can charge for a years cover due to admin costs, what really made me laugh was they asked would he like to pay monthly or in one go.

I would think so, but he was told that insurance companys have a minimum charge, crazy, also well happy with how cheap mine is this year.
