Title: Slight Starting Issue with GT TDI 130
Post by: m19ads on 30 March 2009, 11:26
Hi

I have posted else where on the forum but thought I would try here too!  I have just bought a 52 plate GT TDI 130 Golf and whilst I am loving the car I do have an issue with it starting!  Basically when it is really cold in the mornings you turn key and nothing happens, engine does not turn over or anything but after maybe 30 seconds it fires up and I have no more problems until the next morning!!  It is definately temperature related as yesterday I started it for the first time at lunchtime and had no problems but then this morning it was -2 degs and took ages!  I just wondered if anyone had any ideas?  I thought maybe Glow plugs but guess the engine would still turn over if this was the problem?

Thanks in advance

It does sound like your glow plugs matey. Try leaving it longer before turning the key in the ignition when it's really cold. I also find pumping the gas pedal a few times before starting also help - might just be me on that one!
