Title: IS this a problem???
Post by: ajgti 16v on 29 March 2009, 00:36
Hi Ive done a conversion from a 8v to 16v.the 8v was out of a seat ibiza 1999,but the ecu failed so I had a 16v engine and shell its a 1988 16v.I have the conversion done .I changed the timing and full service.but the car has no power.it will start but will not pick up speed.IS THIS BECAUSE I AM STILL USING THE 8V FUEL PUMP ?
I ALSO SUSPECT THE VACCUM PIPES MAY HAVE BEEN FITTED WRONG?
PLEASE HELP ANY ADVISE NEEDED

As danny said, you need a k-jet fuel pump - its a much higher pressure than digi. Also given that k-jet runs on the inlet vaccuum, if you've got any leaks, its going to run like crap or not at all.

The fuel pressure needs to be around 75-84 psi (http://www.golfgtiforum.co.uk/index.php?topic=99852.0) whereas on digi its more like 40 psi IIRC
