Title: Steering clunk.
Post by: sixpot on 28 March 2009, 12:43
My car has developed a clunk when you turn the steering wheel side to side quickly.
I jacked the car up yesterday to have a look, and found that there is some (a lot) of play in the steering rack.
Now I know in the good old days you could shim steering racks, is there any way of servicing the rack without having to replace it fully?
(quoted £509 from VW to replace it!!)

Could this be a result from your unauthorised driving experience? Did "they" screw up the steering rack? If so, get back on to the insurance....
