We finally found the car we want to buy at the third dealer we visited after experiencing absolutely terrible service at the others, was told it would be ready today, now the dealer has decided to tell us that they can't find the log book.......
Anybody else experienced this? I really am shocked at the state of customer services in VW, im defo writing to VWUK, sick of em!
-
IMO don't complete the transaction till you see the service book as they may be hiding something.
-
Ive had a bad experience with a VW dealer, but they arent all so bad...........I think!
lol
-
as above they might be hiding something
go down and check the car if you are local
i know people/companies make mistakes, but loosing log books is saying loosing keys etc. they obviously don't pride themselves with care over their work and possessions

Ive checked the service book and the car and both seem fine, its just the log book that's been lost, so its a 2 week wait while the dvla get it processed, but i certainly aint gonna hand over any more cash yet!

Dealers are just franchises - independent companies all linked together under the VW name. Because of this, they vary in standard from place to place. The dealer I bought my car from did everything he could to help me.
Had no issues with the dealer I had the car serviced from either.
Both dealers were recommended to me by other VWers.

wouldn't waste the stamp writing to VWUK, waste of space, they really do not care, as the dealers are just franchises. Bit like writing to McDonalds about a cold cheeseburger.

I will drive 45 miles to a dealer for work despite having one 10 minutes away from me! Some of the service isn't something to be proud of (and some SEAT dealers aren't good either from my experience). I use a specialist now mine is out of warranty, cheaper and good worksmanship even if the coffee isn't as good.
On the subject of cheeseburgers: the MacDonalds in Street and Redruth are definately worth avoiding, although I didn't bother complaining to MaccyD HQ.

If you have some serious comments to make, probably more effective writing to VW HQ in Wolfsburg. They might take it more seriously, you never know.
I agree with you the service here is often terrible. I don't know where they find those guys. They are not even friendly or polite. Certainly, not what I am used to from Germany: Over there they call them "the friendly ones", as this is what they seem to aspire to.

Standard British service really wherever you go.
Maybe VW UK should send some of the dealership staff to Germany for some training in manners?
Some hope.

Picked up my GTi yesterday and I'm surprised to be saying that I had excellent service from beginning to end. They found me the perfect car, I had 2 test drives, everything was done with care and attention. So thanks Wayside Letchworth. And this is not an ad for VW as a whole, because I have also had dealings with Lindvale Chelmsford and they were rubbish. Just the luck of the franchise draw I guess.
