Title: Buying an R32
Post by: fasteddie on 20 July 2004, 20:56
Hi all.

I am buying an R32 from a VW dealer.

I have gone for the SMT package, seems a no-brainer at ?42 pcm and sorts out all my tyres brakes ect!

Is there anything I need to know from your experiences about this car, both running and owning, before I sell a kidney to fund my toy...

Your thoughts are appreciatted..

Ed

The cars should be too young to have any problems yet.
I doubt many people will be of much help as not many will be able to afford one  :D

The only problem i'm aware of is a "flat spot" in the revs that has been cured by a new map release for the ecu. Make sure the dealer has applied this before you take it away.

Chris.

Ok, I finally did it. The temptation was too great I'm afraid and I simply could not resist her any longer. I've just signed my soul over to the devil and picking up my (nearly new) Golf R32 at the end of this month... and I'm soooooo looking forward to getting my hands on her! :)

If someone here owns one then purlleeeeeez assure me that I've done the right thing...not that any negative response is going to change my mind anyway! ;D ;) But there you go! :D

You have to the end of the month to convince me otherwise...fat chance!!

All the best! ;) :)

My mate has just sold his R32, was a lovely lovely machine! Only one problem, 150 miles to a full tank of fuel!!! So it had to go (used as a business car) He is now driving an Audi A3 TDi PD 140, which is also a nice car - but not a R32!!! He misses the Golf loads, except when he pulls up at a petrol station.

Well I got the car!

As for the fuel consumption, I went from Brighton to Sheffield and back and got 28 mpg. Not bad considering I wasn't hanging around..

Around Brighton I am getting 15 mpg, still reasonable considering my leaden right foot!!!!

Off to get the flat spot sorted soon....AMD or West tuning I think....

Will keep you informed...
