Alright!! What do people do to keep there sections in place? I have a Milltek system and the front section often moves away from the 4 branch causing it to blow. I have re-positioned it twice now and again it's blowing
The trouble that i can see is there is no holding support between the front section and the 4 branch to the underside of the car and it can sag easily between the joint. When reving the engine there is a fair amount of movement goes on down there as you would expect and this seems to work the join loose.
Any suggestions / tips much appreciated.

Can you get a picture of the joint?
is it a slide over joint or a bolt together joint?
-
It slides together. It's the resonator pipe connecting to the manifold
It seems to want to slip backwards no matter how tight its connected up.
-
Section slides together sorry, not bolts as previously stated.

You could try the motorcycle approach. Weld on about three lugs at equal spacing around the circumfrence of each pipe, then fit a stainless spring to each pair. This will allow the joint to expand with heat, but not fall apart as the springs will keep the pipes together.

or just put a steel adjustable pipe clip around the section nd tighten it up! :afro:

Excellent idea but not for me who doesn't own a welder

Do you mean one of those "U" clamps?

Then get some exhaust wrap and wrap it around the two pipes that are joined together. Then fit your exhaust clamps over the top. The clamps will keep the wrap in place and in turn, the wrap will grip the two pipes and hold them together.

Awsome! Will give that a go, sounds like that would stop the bugger moving!
-
that will be the problem if there is no clamp on there, as said slide the section out, get some exhaust paste around the silencer, slide it back in and fit an exhasut clamp round there and it should hold it all together
-
stainless steel exhaust are very good at this, stainless dosent grip stainless very well at all and will allways move unless you do the clamps up to the point of distorting stuff .
the easy solution is to put the exjaust together and drill a 3mm hole theough the two sections and drive a short self tapping screw in. that will keep it located in place prityy much forever. if you are worried about the screw working loose, locking washer underneath works well

It used to be my monthly ritual of refitting the exhaust - seriously! Because the down pipe and centre box were the same dia. it was a dumb ass sleeve fitting that barely held it together.

Fitting a solid front engine mount helped things a lot and made it a 6 monthly ritual. Then fitting a full stainless system where it wasn't designed by an imbecile helped - only need to nip it up every 8 months now ;)

mine was moving too so i spot welded every joint
doesn't move now

I'm about ready to bin my Jetex system. It bangs, rattles and rolls and makes the shed very difficult to drive. Got it booked in to an exhaust fabricator next week for an assessment to see if anything can be done with it. If it can't, its going in the free-adds, and I'll fit a standard one.

ALL awesome replys guys thanks! Just picked em up as been away over the week end. will be trying some fix ideas very soon for sure!!
