just did a gearbox change to a mk3 2.0 8v gti, everything went well apart from gear box didnt fit the mk2 clutch, so we swapped over the clutch and put it back together, it works fine and theres a little lf left in the clutch for now, but the bastarding self adjusting clutch cable dosent like the second hand clutch and i cant get any free play in it so its slipping
so my question is, how do i adjust the self adjusting clutch cable, it that is at all possible, its on a tempory thing until i can afford a new clutch but i need to use it for work for a week, and i aint too craky at backing off the throttle, bit of heavy right foot
any help will be much apreciated.

You cannot really unadjust them.

not to worry, was under there earlier, bodging ma gear linking with a bunch of cable ties and a split pin until vw service centre get the part in and i decied to give the cable some abuse and now shes working fine. can crack on with the low budget over rated distasteful (but i like it) ratlook project
cvheers any ways

why dont you buy a manual adjuster from GSF only about 10 sheets?
-
sounds like a plan, i really need to find out where my nearest gsf is, the vw service centre are rip off bastards, quoted me 75 sheets on a frount mount and i got the same thing from a smaller parts supplier for 55. but they aint to cracky either, always getting the wrong parts sent down.
cheers

ive mananged to re-adjust the auto cable in the past but ended up buying a manual one like mentioned.
only way. clutch pedal will feel a bit harder but nothing to cry about.
