Title: lowiring with 19" wheals

sorry i bet this has ben asked heeps of times i have 19" wheals on my mk5 gti

i wont to lower the car recameb what is best drop and combe springs or springs and shocks
 
can you tell me what offset the wheals shood be that are a et45?

if i lowere the car will i get any scufing ie gowing over bumps and turning lock to lock or will i need spacers

I too have 19" wheels, but mine have a slightly higher offset at 48. What width are the wheels? 8.5" wheels are more likely to rub when lowered than 8" ones as they stick out another 6mm with the same offset?

The car is lowered by 30mm over stock on coilovers and I have no rubbing issues. I also did the wheel arch screw mod to give the car an extra few mm's of clearance.

thanks for the reply the wheels are 19"x8 was hoping to lower about 30mm!!

can you tell me what is the screw mod is?

The screw mod is a trick that can be done to the front arches to give a little more clearance for the wheels. If you feel under the highest part of the front arch your fingers will run over a screw head. It is this screw which tends to catch on the wheel first. By removing the screw and its plastic fixing, then tucking the arch liner behind the metal screw locater bracket on the arch and finally bending gently (by hand) the metal bracket back into itself you will get a good 3 to 5mm extra clearance. :nerd:
