Title: Can't get 1st or 2nd gear

Hi new to the board.
Just driven home using only 3rd and 4th gears. No probs this morning but now 1st and 2nd just don't pick up. Reverse is fine. Any ideas as to what it is and how it can be fixed? Any ideas of cost and time involved?

chances are its the gear linkages. A gear linkage repair kit from GSF is what you need along with gear alignment tool.

Sod the GSF one its poop!

Try selecting the gear manually from the box itself, but it does sound like an alignment issue.

i have the same problem with my 1.8t gti haynes manual does not cover adjustment just refers you to vw.
