Title: What colour should my steels be?
Post by: Dan34 on 23 March 2009, 17:20: Hi, i just bought some g60 steels for my jade green metalic golf gti and im stumped on what colour to paint em, they are all ready to have paint on them but still not sure what colour to go for. I was thinking white or audi nimbus grey, what do you lot think?

lol, i do really like the ra's but i want a change and they are bloody hard to keep clean lol

Post by: Thom89 on 23 March 2009, 19:48: Your G60s come in cheap and cheerful silver, with poor coverage, and very likely scuffs and chips.. mine did! get them repainted the same colour, by someone that knows how to paint! they'll look awesome, very silver and very shiny :cool:

was tempted to spray them the silver they came in but decided i wanted to something abit different, if it looks crap il prob get em done in silver or cream....lol

opinions?

got a problem now tho one or maybe both of the rear wheels are making a sort of low pitch wuring\drone noise from about 20mph+, i thought that the bearings might be knackered but jacked it up and shaked the wheels and no play at all, i also thought they might not be seated properly so took em off and cleaned the hub but the noise is still there, any ideas?

As for the noise spin the wheels by hand and see if you can hear any noise, this will rule out bearings

Another thing you can try is to put your hand on the tyre and slowly spin it and feel if the tread is stepped/uneven, this will also cause a wheelbearing type noise

Post by: Dan34 on 26 March 2009, 18:42: cheers, yeah i spun the wheel and there is no noise, put you could be right about the tyre thing cause the rear tyres have been used for a thousand miles or so in the past.

Post by: Dan34 on 26 March 2009, 19:06: fair doo's i can take the critisism its all part of my golf learning curve lol i do remember you saying earlier in th thread that the original silver would look better, but for now or at least this year im gonna keep em like this jsut for a change. When i next get them painted (trust me i will i doubt my painting will last long :laugh:) im gonna probably go for the silver :smiley:

Was it aerosol by the way, if so, then it could easily be removed with thinners on a rag...
