i have a 1.8 gti 16v, i have fitted a magnex 4 into 1 manifold and system and a pipercross induction kit, since fitting them im had pre ignition, what can i do to get rid of it how easy is it to set the air fuel mixture. also what power should i be expecting to achieve??

mate, my bro nearly binned his gt cause of running probs.... make sure the air filter is up to scrach first. we went and bought a new rotor arm, dizzy cap, blue temp sensor etc and it turned out it was the bloody air filter..so have a check 1st ;). mike.

Try running it on super duper unleaded. iirc the 16v's dont have a knock sensor and need the octane. <awaits correction!

It's probably breathing harder and leaning out quickly.
That's because K-jet is stupid and clumsy and can't deal with the higher airflow through the engine. The real solution is to get some bike throttlebodies on it and run a proper management system.

as DH said , K jet is stupid it's well known for leaing out up top and kjet motors don't have knock sensors
you can check the ignition timeing but it normallhy lean running that causes issues, problem is not the pinkking you hear it it when it's doing it flat out you don't hear it then and thats when it dose the damage also means your likely to be well down on power.

so i should fit a new airbox drill it and fit a k&n filter and run it on super unleaded????

You should get it tuned, get the fuel system checked, get the 'warm up regulator modification' done to it and get it properly set up, or you'll kill the engine.
Drilling the airbox will just make it make more noise.
You should be running it on super-unleaded anyway - give the poor thing some respect.
