Got Excessive wind noise at 90mph and above, well comes in a bit earlier than that but thats what i cruise at.
Only on my side, wife says it dont happen her side.
I think it has something to do with the plastic bit that comes up the side of the windscreen.
Could be down to door fit - its not the window seal thats fine.
Anyone else had this? or heard of this happening?
Its like a fag flapping in the wind but more of a wistling sound.
-
not sure mate..
on other cars i've heard about this kind of thing happening due to something going on with the door mirrors, so that might be worth considering.
-
Nah dont think its them.
Only coz its def up by my head. Think its right where the A post meets the roof. I cant see any visual difference between the near and offsides. The only reason i said about the plastic strip is because its worse in a cross wind and sometimes it occurs at lower speeds when there's a gust of wind.
Guess its just one of those things i gotta live with. :(
-
guess so.. seems weird..
so u didnt fit a sub yet then? :D
-
Nah not yet ;)
Just a crap amp and a set of 6x9's in an MDF parcel shelf for now. My ears needed a rest after the band in Walkabout Sat night!
Into rebuilding/extending my garage atm so rest is on backburner til that gets finished.

hi len405, i have the same prob sometimes mostly on the right, and sometimes on the left, at bout 90ish, it is a bit annoying u can feel the air coming in at the a post, it is like the door is trying to open or something
-
Thanks for your post surreylad. Made me check mine but i dont get any air coming thru the door. My door seals seem fine to me, only if i stick fingers in and seperate the seal then i get more noise.
Still think mine is the plastic strip
-
no problem len, maybe air is only coming in when i part the seal from the door, let us know if u find a cure mate
-
Had a play with the plastic strip and offside came adrift easily, but nearside wouldnt budge with finger tips, so didnt try harder.
So that seems most likely to me. Only solution i can think of is to try and glue down this strip, not ideal i know.
Or might go see a windscreen fitting place and ask them.

hang on i just realised something...
whatchu doing going over 90 mph len? :P
lol... *whistles innocently*
-
Whooops! di i really say 90mph. ;)
Only when conditions allow it and its really, really safe to do that astronomical speed! ;D
Might be coming past Taunton next Saturday, on way to see a mate at Croyde. poss get a bit of surfing in if the waves are kind. (big that is)

Hey I get wind noise at anything over 80mph*.... but that's the front seam on the soft-top ;D .... much less noticable if I just take the roof down.... then it's less noticable, well up to about 110mph* anyway.... after that you can't hear ANYTHING (or care about anything more than surviving!)...
* obivously only when conditions and local traffic laws allow.
