Hi all,
Anyone know what the exact capacity of the fuel tank would be on a mk3 16v?
Cheers

55 litre (and all mk3's use the same plastic tank) :nerd:
-
cheers! thats bigger than what i thought, was expecting it to be more like 45l!

quite a big tank in reality (unless you drive a vr6 and then it far too small )

On my old 16v i could never manage more than 45 litres, and that was with the needle right at the bottom of the guage, my vr deffo took the whole 55 litres though.

aye on both the golfs ive had they never seem to take 55lts, must be alot more in the tank than the dials telling me

I never managed to get any more than 45ltrs in my 8V, guess the gauge was out.

I have never managed more than 45litres in my vr.

I think the needle may be calibrated to show empty when around 45-48l. I iignored the needle today and made it home and clocked 345miles in my 1.8 auto....it is still shoeing 1/8 left but I don't believe it. other times it has shown empty at 310 miles...seems like the warm weather improves my fuel economy by a large margin...

Bit old to quote but...

Estate: 60L
Syncro: 65L
They are NOT all the same ;)
