Rite guys when I was on my way home my car started juddering and running like a bag of sh!t my dad came out with my uncle who workes in a car garage and he said 1 of my coils had gone down so i took it to a garage where they said they could only buy and replace the whole set.
They charged me
£208.00 for the coil packes
£33.00 for the new spark plugs
and while it was there the ingition trigger/boster broke costing me another £97.75
What do you guys think??
-
why could they only replace all the coils?? makes no sense!!

Hey bud, that sounds well off, as my (ignition amplification unit) failed 'ingition trigger/boster' These I belive are only on the AGU engine connected to the airbox & this make it look like a coil back has failed. The garage was stummed at 1st until I pointed this out to them.
The later coil pack have them built in (more prone to fail) AGU coil pack are rock solid

yea its easy on the agu unclip the wire connecter on the coilpack pull old one out, then put the new one in connect back up and job done

Places like this give the motor industry a bad name. They probably replaced them all as they had an idea that a coil was caursing the problem but didnt have the knowledge to identify witch was at fault. So at your expence replaced the lot. How had is it for places to give a honest and fair service, therefore customers retern. Instead they rip people off, it makes my blood boil!
Hope you go give them hell mate.

Make sure you get the old coils that they replaced if they didnt give you them in the first place as they'll be there to save you if it occurs again.

That was probably me, the coil pack failed, I was unsure what the problem was, rang R-Tech and he said it was defiantly a coil. He ordered one for me (Trade price) and I drove to the motor factors and paid £24 for just the one. Swapped it over myself, which took seconds really, and all was fine!
