If you had to choose another golf to compliment the one you've got. What would it be??? (Besides another Mk2)
Just for fun
Torn between a ABF Mk1 or Anniversary Mk5

A cab with a hot engine.

fully restored mk1 all original and factory

A mk1 - but a three door campaign this time.
Or a mk4 R32, which I'd share with the miss.
-
Rivage.

Black on black mk1 16v G60 on low on wide wheels.....
-
Cabby...doesnt get cooler then that :D
-
Mk5 Edition 30 in white
-
I'd probably have a MK5 Edition 30 too, but in Black.
-
mk1 g60
-
Can't have another mk2?? That sucks...probably...a white mk4 or mk5 with red details, yinyang with my black mk2 GTI
-
Mk5, use it for a bit then have the money to buy a Rallye and something newer and usable like a Mk4 1.8T.

I think you hit the nail on the head there mate. Imagine the fun you could have in that! A mad little supercharged valver in a perfect little crisp packet... im a mk2 man myself, but i recon i could be easily swayed into mk1 territory. I just really love mk1's and mk2's, gotta love the interiar smell of a GTI, aswell as the noise, character, satisfaction, maintenance problems .
-
it would have to be a stripped out and specced out mk1 2l 16v track car for me on throttle bodies.
-
If I had the money I'd buy a brand new Pirelli, trailer it home and keep it in a cacoon in the garage.
A waste of a good car I know, must imagine how cool it would be be to have an original zero mile car in 30 years time.
-
Mk1 in candy white, ATS cups, chromed with s3 engine
-
Another MK2, G60 flavour.

This one would do me! Supercharged, small lights classic look. Don't know about the colour though.
Also, there's a Jabbasport mk1 track car (in red) that gets down C Combe sometimes. It laps the track faster than anything else by a long way. Very nice.
I guess mine would have to be a track monster/evo eater.

MK2's not allowed though.

oh, i forgot to mention it would have to be an original swallow tail shell with additional digital dash. ftw. TBH there are so many final scenarios including mk1, mk2's that i would love, its hard to make a concrete decision, for a real drivers car -40mm/55mm for handling bliss on uk roads and upper lower braces, poly bushes and roundabout confidence! Or... slam ya baby chuck your fav rims and slam for stance etc. I personaly love both options. Getting some smoked 16v rear's for my 8v soon. looks much better than the standard 8v rear lights imo. i think VW should've made smoked rears on 8v as standard? their in a class off its own (gti) 8 or 16, they've both got their perks, yes? As far as im concerned, one feels quicker low down one has the top end that the 8v lacks somewhat, im an 8v owner and i can say that there is not that much difrence between the two, love 'em both. love 'em all.

i would have to have a mk1

Great minds think a like and all that.... Only thing that puts me off the mk1 is that they are getting hard (read expensive) to get certain bits for.
Guy who uses the same shop as me has a mint, and i do mean mint, mk1 black with 3pc zender wheels, factory rear head rests, factory rear window shade, custom 1900 8v and absolutely NO rust at all. Previous owner was apparently obssessive compulsive and stripped it to a shell, dip coated it, rebuilt with stainless bolts throughout FVWSH from new and only a genuine 64k on the clock
But guy who owns it doesn't seem to understand what he's got, i mean it has a lumpy cam in it and it was in the garage to "get the lumpy idle fixed", I'd have it off him in a minute but I'd need to get rid of my other 2 golfs....

Know what you mean, but there maybe a twist to the tale. I was mooching about the garage today organising some welding/painting and my pet grease monkey mentioned that afore mentioned bloke with sweet mk1 has now got a company van and so might be looking to offload his mk1. I have made it known that I'd be interested and thats if the grease monkey doesn't get his grubby little paws on it first
