Title: Value of Edition 30?
Post by: p3eps on 19 March 2009, 18:51
I'm afraid for personal reasons I may be needing to part company with my beloved Edition 30.

Shes a July 2007 '07 Plate with a mere 9500 miles on the clock, manual and steel grey.
Absolutely IMMACULATE!  Not a single stone chip, kerbed wheel, or even a single swirl mark from washing with a grubby sponge!  Washed every weekend, and polished about once a month.  Shown a LOT of TLC.

Fully standard car with the following factory extras: Xenon lights, Center Armrest, Highline Computer, Rear Tints.  Had 1 service after about 6000 miles at 1 year old from my local VW dealer.
The original price in July 2007 was a few £'s away from £25k.

Realistically, what can I expect to get now for a private sale?

Ive been looking at a number of ED30's. In fact Ive just been looking at a 08 (August 08) ED30 DSG, Steel Grey, 5 Dr, with Highline, MFSW, Bluetooth, Arm Rest and Rear Tints - had just over 3,500 miles on the clock and still have just under 2.5 years warranty remaining - so practically brand new.

It was going for £19k.

If you were to sell now, I would estimate around £17k for your car TBH - simply due to the slightly higher miles then the above example, 1 year older, and its not a DSG.

If it was a 5 door I would have been interested ;)

sounds a good 'un ifti & easy entry rear seats.........

17k seems high to me, I'm affraid if quick sale required £14,500-15 & it should fly out of the door

but...... the used car market is picking up & IMO I don't think ED30 prices will head south much from where they are for a while.

Just seen a silver ED30, 5Dr, 16k miles, highline, tints, parrot bluetooth - up for £14,750!!

Pity all of these good priced ones are manual!!
Im thinking of picking up a manual at these prices now!!!

nothing wrong with planting the left foot & throwing a lever.
brother's TTS is DSG as I have prob said before & its great, but I feel you just loose something with DSG.
but...to each their own

Hmmm, just seen this one...........

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=180336305786&category=9873&viewitem=&salenotsupported

Looks pretty standard except for the arm rest and highline.

I could get this for maybe £14500, then have extra to add a MFSW and RNS510 ;)

Anyways - to the OP - all you have over this car is the Xenons, but two less doors - so pitch3110's estimate is probably closer then my original over-estimate!

Thanks for all the replies so far guys.
I'm not so much after a 'quick' sale - just a good one!
So if I was to stick it on the market at something like £15,500 ono I should manage to pick up £15k ish?

I'd better phone tomorrow and see about getting my plaque before I sell it... otherwise the new owner would miss out!

Nothing wrong with manual!!!!  I specifically chose it over DSG just because I enjoy the feeling of changing gear!  I know DSG is technically quicker and easier - but like pitch3110 above says, I feel you're missing something with an automatic box.  Each to their own though...

I would have thought that would be a good starting point...

I would have thought £14500-£1500 max if you get a private buyer who is keen to get that colour and spec. Significantly less if you trade. Buyers market I'm afraid and it'll get worse so if you want to sell, do it now

Big hit to take - can you not keep it and ride the storm - just giving it away at that price

I'm just putting out my feelers at the moment - I'll have to wait and see!

Pistonheads is good to get a true feel of the market value - most peeps here would like to think their cars are worth more, but in the current climate - we're all bent over and shafted. Thank Gordon Brown for that

Hmmm, you can forget price like this for ED30's.  Cass is right £14-£15K should see it sold, dreamers are asking £19K, check the ads, they've had them for sale for ages. The biggest drop yet will come when VW officially open their order books for the new GTI........... But then if the price for the MKVI does end up in the mid 20's who knows............

I put mine on for £17k its got just over 10k on the clock, black 3dr manual. Had a call today but im keeping it now.

Would have thought maximum around £17k with it being slightly better spec yet its a year older so for me around £15500-17000

R32 goes back end of august.. so until i find the perfect R32 to turbo, an ed30 will do.

PADDYS...
I don't know whats happening yet, and probably won't for another few weeks.
Just now I'm just after a rough idea what the car is worth - because when I search on the VW Approved vehicles on their website, cars similar to mine (can't find an exact same spec / mileage) are selling for about £17 - £18.5k!  Obviously thats a dealer price, and not realistic - hence why I'm asking here!

was on a lease. Its not perfect because its not an 09 plate  Plus i wanted a golf in the charcoal grey... in hindsight thats what I would have ordered

p3eps,

no worries. Your right about the dealer prices which i'm not ready to pay. Keep me in mind if you do get round to selling.

Good luck.
