hi i have a 1990 gti 8v with no power stearing or central locking has it all been taken out or did it start after 1990 thanks
-
not all gti's came with power steering and central locking
it is highly unlikely that it would have been removed as to remove the power steering involves fitting an entirely new steering rack
also to take out the central locking completely involves removing the interior
-
Dont know if this will help but the black one in my sig was a 89 F and that had power steering and central locking as standard
-
my 87 gti 8v has central locking, electric windows and power steering

Tonnes of people ditch PAS and the VAG vacuum system starts to take its toll 20yrs on, so its just as likely that *could* have been binned too.

Later models should all be fully loaded.. earlier cars some item were on the option list & 16v on the earlier cars usually had a better spec by the default of it having the 16v badge..
-
power steering was an option on gti models from august 1987
and came as standard from 1990 onwards

Sorry to hijack, but should my late 1991 GTD have come with central locking, there doesn't seem to be any sign of the system in place, but i have been told it should have been standard.
I think i'm going to get one of those remote locking kits off ebay, im getting a bit sick of manually locking all the doors, i'm a bit lazy.
