Title: suede or Alcantara
Post by: carter.gsd on 19 March 2009, 16:25
Have been looking around for some alcantara, which has been quite a mission, found some on Ebay but £50 a meter in black!

The local fabric shop has suede at £2.50 a meter!

Whats your thoughts on alcantara or suede, and has anyone worked with these materials before?

I just want i bit to cover the top edge of the door cards.

Suede is a soft material and not good for wear!
Also it will go smooth and patchy in high use areas.

Why not smooth leather? price will be less than alcantara!

Good point had'nt thought of that.

just been offered some Alcantara, (albeit seconds, said it satisfactory though) for £10 a meter, may be worth a tenner to find out, otherwise i think leather option may be my only choice, the current stuff is starting to look a bit worse for wear.

Alcantara is expensive... more than people seem to think!

suede for £2.50 a meter? probably not suede then!
