On the way to work this morning my front wipers came on without even moving the stalk and stayed on until i went round a left turn, but then my rear wiper came on and has stayed on even though stalk is in the off position.
What could be causing it? Do i need a new wiper stalk?

i think Steve_PD had this problem mate
can't remember if he replaced the rear wiper motor and or the wiper relay
-
Hopefully he'll see this and reply. Just seemed funny the front wipers coming on all of a sudden and then going off when going roud a left bend. May take steering wheel surround off and see if anything on the stalk has snapped.

Well coming home from work neither front or rear wipers played up. But i have yet to turn them on to test them. Will the relay have reset itself once i turned the ignition off?
-
Same problem I had, the rear wiper was leaking water onto the multi plug causing a short in the circuit which then caused the front wipers to come on.
check for water around your rear wiper plug. I bought a new wiper (thanks Dave ) and had no problems since.
Your lucky theres no grit on the roads mine happened in winter and I pulled the fuse so no wipers would work, by the time I got home from work I could barely see out the windscreen because of all the crap

i have this problem with my rear wiper, sometimes it will sweep once and wont again for a few seconds and sometimes it will sweep 3 times or more then wont again for a few seconds... in the end i took the fuse out. ive tested the rear wiper motor and thats fine so it leads me to believe either my relay or switch is at fault... just havent bothered fixing it.... yet.

Cheers for that Steve. Funny thing was though that i havent used the rear wash wiper for a while, just flicked the wipers on before i left home and then turned them off ok. was about another 3-4 mins before they came on without touching owt. So not sure how water has leaked, i do know the wash wiper/motor needs replacing due to the shaft being knackered but i know not to use it.
Will have a look at the weekend. Cheers

Pipe popped off? :undecided:

I never used mine because of the the same reason, then sometimes it would come on, then one day the front wipers come on and wouldn't stop. the only way they stopped was by taking the fuse out

So you say replace the rear wiper motor itself and if that doesnt work replace the relay?
-
Check for water first, if you can see water around the plug thats your problem.
you can pick motors up off ebay for around £40

Cheers mate, much appreciated.
Funny thing again, drove to work this morning and it was fine, no probs. Been good weather all day, no rain. Started the car to leave work and low and behold, rear wiper came on.

Mine was the same, it wouldn't happen for days but then other days it wouldn't stop
