Use a voltmeter and check you have 12v between the positive and earth terminals, and 12v between the remote on terminal and earth when the stereo is switched on. If you have these, then your amp is knackered.

I was being a wolly then, i never put the fuse in the power cable????? doh!
BUT now im blown 3 25a fuses on the amp every time i connect the ground wire??
why???
-
You must be drawing too much current.
Try and connect the eart before you put the fuse in. If it still blows then maybe you have a short in the amp. Try a continuity check between the positive and earth terminals whith the wire removed. If you have continuity then your positive supply is being sent straight to earth when you connect it, this will blow your fuse.

how do a continuity check?? the fuse in the power cable is 30a an the amp 25a ive tried to connect the wire then the fuse an it still blew! ???
-
It sounds like the amp may be shorting out internally. You need to use a meter to test the resistance between the positive (red) terminal and negative (black/brown) terminal. I think you will find that you have very little resistance between these, and this is causing the fuse to blow as you are probably putting the live feed to earth.

pos an neg on the battery? Is there any way out of this? if what you say is correct what can be done to alter it?
-
Not the battery - the terminals on the Amp. I suspect you have a problem with it. If you do, then you may need to have it fixed properly if you are not familiar with electronics.

Well, il hav to look into getting it looked at, is it really worth the bother though? would it be cheaper to get new one? its all wired up an positioned, i just need a working amp an im away! 8)
its so bloody annoying though why does nothing go back exactly how it was! an ive got two extra screws left?

I had a sony amp do that a couple of years back. I sent it off to be repaired under warrenty and I can't remember what they said was wrong. probably a transistor inside popped.
I was running 8AWG cable back then and even that had a 50A fuse on the battery end.
it's probably not worth spending any money on it. you can get better amps cheap online. 2nd hand stuff is always trading hands on talkaudio.com
I bought a Genesis ST100 for ?100 and it's the best little amp I've had. it's only putting out 2x80w or 1x270w, but it powers everything.

Think its alright now,its working, i connected the earth an remotewithout the fuse in then the fuse then the power cable an hey presto!! But just need to check a few facts, when ive had two amps before i needed two outputs from the head unit, however i only have one amp now but running as a 3 channel, brigded to the sub an then to the rear 6X9's! DO I STILL NEED 2 OUTPUTS FROM THE HEAD UNIT!! oR WILL ONE STILL GET ALL THE TONES TO THE REAR SPEAKERS AN THE BASE TO THE SUB???? ;D
