Hi there, looking to go revo stage 1 soon and i have a few questions. btw this is going to be done on an 06 GTI.
I have heard that because of the increased boost running from the remap, the stock DV and the PCV will eventually fail.
I have two choses on the DV; go for a forge one, or go for the new VW OEM revision 'D'. I really want to keep the number of aftermarket parts down on the car because of insurance and needing to declare etc. So would the OEM one be any good? Or should I really go the forge? I heard that the forge is vacuum operated and not electronic like the VW one, therefore it is slower - i doubt any of this is noticable, but still.
Also what should I do about the PCV? Do I really need an aftermarket one? If so, I need to get one imported and have the choice between eurojet and BSH - which one should i go for? Rang the insurance company up to tell them about the PCV and they had no idea what it was lol.

Hi andeep,
Neither the stock DV nor PCV are "guaranteed to fail".
I changed my DV to a Forge just as a precaution but VW have since upgraded their DV (yet again!). The Forge is more robust.
My PCV is as stock and has done 63k miles and I'm now running Revo Stage2.

u dont need nout, but an intake is a good idea...
revo are/were doing an offer 20% off, duno if its still on tho.. (think it may be until end of month)

Would you recommend the VW revision D or the Forge DV? I would really want to go with the VW one as its one less thing I need to tell the insurance about.

Then go for the VW DV and only change it if you have to. You'll most likely be absolutely fine and needn't worry.

When did VW last upgrade the DV...latest cars or from like 08 onwards?

I am having issues with my Forge dv* valve and am thinking about going back to an OEM valve, having done a bit a poking around I found that the revision d is newer than the revision G and is more robust, however the d whilst it will fit the GTI turbo is not designed for the GTI and will leak more boost out at lower revs.
So the revision G is the one to go for which should be more than sufficient with standard and "stage 1 remaps".
Perhaps someone could confirm if they agree with this as I am not 100% on this.
*occasional turbo overboost going into "soft limp mode" reset by switching off ignition.

I've just bought a revision D valve to replace my Forge item, done a fair bit of reading around but not heard of anything bad about the D revision. What sources have you got it from about loss of boost at low revs?

Sorry leaking was probably the wrong word, what i meant was vent. I found this thread (3rd reply down)

Also if you order a replacement DV valve from my local dealer they still quote the G revision.
*update* went to order the G revision and they now say it has been superseded by the d, so now I am even more confused.
