Im (hopefully!) picking up the mk5 gti on the weekend, completely standard down to the 17" wheels. The only thing im a bit gutted about is no ipod interface or sat nav, would have liked an arm rest too i suppose. Are there any other additions or mods that come recommended? Ta!

MFSW and Highline!
-
Heated Seats and Wing Mirrors.
-
MFSW looks abit fussy to me, be scared of hitting something or breaking it! electric folding mirrors would be nice. The head unit is rubbish as standard i heard, any recs?
-
i got heated seats absolutely love um!!! and the heated mirrors worked a treat in the recent snow. ive always had armrests and find it weird driving without them now. bit pissed about my i pod situation, gonna sort that with a fat alpine though!!

turbo rockets
-
heated mirrors are standard on the gti aren't they?
-
Yes.
A superchips remap.
-
Folding door mirrors would run into the thousands to have fitted after.
Cruise is under £200
Reverse sensors are under £300 iirc
rns510 is anything between £600-£1200
Ipod connection is about £200 (and not really worth it)
Heated seats will be expensive
Arm rests come up on ebay and i have seen them around £250-£400
If you want to save money, get an aftermarket stereo with ipod connection, tomtom (which has bluetooth for your phone) and a hot water bottle for the seats, the mirrors hardly fold in so dont worry about that, i get out and use my hands

So what are the big differences in quality then??? I'll be eternally grateful to be rid of the wood trim tbh.

The plastics are harder, and the Mk5 is well known for dashboard creaks and squeaks.
-
They over spent on the mk4 interior (made a loss) so its better built. It looks awful (imo) though, just hold together better. My R has about 1 or 2 squeaks (one because i went back to the isle of wight for a few days  ) I had loads in my ctr though
My dad had an S-class merc when it came out and that had a few squeaks and was a £60k car.
-
foldin mirrors and puddle lights are a really nice touch.
just had criuse & sensors fitted for just under £400

No creaks or squeaks on mine , never has been - build quality is excellent and better than my last Audi and Porsche
