Title: GIAC versus Revo Stage 2+
Post by: robern2 on 17 March 2009, 21:14
I'm picking up my edition 30 in 2 weeks and have narrowed down my preferred tuning route to GIAC (hammer map) or Revo Stage 2+
Would appreciate feedback from either side on personal experiences either via PM or direct to this thread.
Map will be complimented by fuel pump, induction kit (dbillas or EVOMS), Milltek turbo back (resonated).

Pretty much got a select audience with the parts your using. Probably not many people with the same map and parts.

Would be interesting to hear more about GIAC and the different maps from companies as im looking into getting mine remapped when im back on the road.

I would have thought revo and milltek were the most common bits of choice.
Admittedly GIAC does appear to be more favoured by Audi drivers though.

I've got Revo Stage 2+, Milltek, EVOMS, APR Fuel Pump, Forge DV, S3 Intercooler etc...  Its not working - there is a problem with the car and its running lean at 4k rpm and above.  Currently running at 255bhp instead of what it should be - 350/360bhp...   At Stage 2 it was awesome with 321bhp recorded   I'm hoping to get everything sorted before the GTI Spring Festival at Santa Pod.

I have the GIAC normal map and hammer map, aswell as the Dbilas Intake and Milly Turboback. Replaced the Bluefin Map for a GIAC and instantly noticed a stronger top end. I've had it on the rollers at Awesome last summer and it made about 325bhp and 375Ibft of torque (seems too high to me). Drives very well, have had no issues whatsoever regarding the Map and exhaust.
Regarding the intake tho... the Dbilas is nice for sound... not loud like an open cone intake like Evoms or VF, but i do i get a nit of 'flutter and whooshing' noises on lift off at WOT. I like it, but the Dbilas intake on the edition 30 design is not the best, reason being, the diverter valve feed into the intake is placed right next to the brake resevoir, so without abit of DIY, it causes the brake n clutch pedals to vibrate.
I just had an autotech fuel pump done on Tuesday, unfortunately no one has ever had a pump fitted to an Edition30 with my ECU model, so i'm awaiting my customised software still. Even so, without fuel pump specific software the fuel pump has made the car alot more 'livelier.' Can't wait to get the new software. Hopefully get it on the rollers again to see what difference the pump makes.

Thanks for the info K1, Statller did suggest the torque from the GIAC map is generally very high, with just the map they claim to have seen up to 358lbs so 370+ with your mods would seem feasible.
My closest GIAC dealer hadn't mentioned issues with Dbillas on the edition 30 although you mention further software, are GIAC looking into this? the reason I ask is that I saw on another forum GIAC claim to be offering new software to cater for additional mods like fuel pumps.

I will try to post a picture of the intake to illustrate the problem. Giac do do specific maps. They haven't written one for my particular ecu yet. Hopefully I should get it by the 31st.

Hi Keith. Your spec lists looks awefully impressive lol. I get my engine tuning from Steve at stattlers of Sheffield. Awesome guy highly recommended for those wanting to go away from apr/revo.
Do you not have problems of the intake feed from the dv touching your brake resevoir? Sounds like mines the modified gti version lol.

Heard good stuff about them from the audi forum. I will check my Dbilas tomorrow and report back.
