My 16v has a vey similar engine which has covered about 28,000 miles since its rebuild, been bored to 1.9 , ported, polished lightened and balanced etc. with a full magnex system and a K&N filter.
It put out 157.8 bhp on TSR's dyno which is 2.5 bhp more than it made before the magnex exhaust was fitted.
Quiet happy to be 20ish bhp up on standard but there's a few little bits and bobs I'll do to it anyhow

You shold be looking at around 155 with that spec.

Sorry to hijack thread... but what about a 9a bottom end underneath KR cams? stainless exhaust (but not four branch) - any ideas? Also will the fuelling be running a bit lean if it has not been set up properly (I think it might need a good tune / set up / possible WUR mod?)

KR head, ace or 9a (still not established which) bottom end, WUR mod and shagged downpipe/exhaust system made 166bhp at Stealth

I was talking to TSR at Ultimate Dubs. The build they did on the 5th Gear Golf made 185bhp.
Basically that was built around a rebore to 1900cc had everything thrown at it. They did say that they had recommended a 2.0 crank to give it a longer stroke, but were not given enough time.
The 1.9's make their power at the top end and give no more low down torque than the stock 1.8, which IMO is where an improvement is needed.
